Nov. 2, 2018: My Lecture Notes on Optimal Power Flow, related to my course at DTU "31765: Optimization in Modern Power Systems", are now online. They currently cover Economic Dispatch, DC-OPF, and AC-OPF -- but they will continue to get updated. Future updates will include semidefinite programming for OPF, and derivation of nodal prices. Aug. 28, 2018: Demo video for the visualization of the Global Grid simulations! Dec. 21-22, 2017: Participating in the 2nd Hellenic International Power Group Workshop at my alma mater, the National Technical University of Athens. Will be giving a short talk on "Data-driven security constrained OPF". [ presentation ]

Dec. 12, 2017: Served as "Opponent" to the PhD defense of Tetiana Bogodorova at KTH-Royal Institute of Technology. Tetiana was advised by Profs. Luigi Vanfretti and Kostya Turitsyn. Her topic was on "Modelling, model validation and uncertainty identification for power system analysis." Here is the short presentation of her thesis, that I had to give as the opponent: slides.

Dec. 5-6, 2017: Invited to panel discussions in New Delhi with Members of Parliament from India and 10 other countries to accelerate the transition to clean energy across the developing world by the Climate Parliament. Exciting discussions! [ info about the event | presentation | some pics ]

Dec. 4-7, 2017: Florian Thams will be presenting our paper on "DC Voltage Droop Control Structures and its Impact on the Interaction Modes in Interconnected AC-HVDC Systems" at the ISGT Asia 2017 conference, in Auckland, New Zealand. [ paper | presentation ]

Oct. 26-27, 2017: In Berlin for our Cigre C1.35 Working Group Meeting! We are working on a feasibility analysis of a global electricity network. Cigre formed this Working Group after the inspiration provided by our 2013 paper on Global Grid, and by the 2015 book of the State Grid of China CEO, Zhenya Liu, on Global Energy Interconnection. Oct. 24-25, 2017: Maria Krutova presented her paper on "Novel node selection approach for continent-wide power system studies using spatio-temporal clustering" in the 16th Wind Integration Workshop in Berlin. [ paper ]

Oct. 23-24, 2017: We are having our second MULTI-DC meeting! Our partners from Energinet, Svenska Kraftnät, KTH, ABB, and University of Liège, and our advisory board from ABB and RTE France are coming to DTU to discuss about the project progress and exciting research!

Sep. 25, 2017: Graduated from my 1½-year pedagogics and didactics course on Education in University Teaching! Citation: "dedicated and competent teacher able to understand the important factors in teaching which support student learning in an effective way"

Jun. 15-16, 2017: MULTI-DC Kick-Off Meeting! The first meeting for the MULTI-DC project took place at DTU in Lyngby. In total, 20 participants representing DTU, Energinet, KTH, Svenska kraftnät, the University of Liège, ABB, Mosek, and the Nordic Regional Security Coordination Center attended the two-day meeting. MULTI-DC, led by Jacob Østergaard and myself, will develop innovative methods for the optimal coordination and control of HVDC lines and grids. Stay tuned! More info.

Jun. 12-16, 2017: The DTU CEE summer school is coming up during the week Jun. 12-16, 2017! 55 students from around the world will have the opportunity to learn more about cutting-edge topics on power system optimization, uncertainty, and game theory for electricity markets. We are happy to welcome our distinguished invited lecturers Ben Hobbs, Kostas Margellos, Dan Molzahn, and Josh Taylor. Looking forward!

Mar. 27, 2017: Project funded! Co-PI of a 25.7 million DKK (3.7 million USD) research project on the optimal coordination of multi-area AC and HVDC grids!
